Introduction to Studio intO and the role

As a thriving, fast-growing business, we are looking for creative, curious and enthusiastic researchers. These researchers will be asked, if available, to join us in research when a project in their area comes up, of course upon confirmation and common agreement of all legal and work aspects.

Type of role: contractor / freelancer

Seniority level: Various (mid to senior level)

Nationality: To apply to be a Local Researcher of a specific country you must be native, or have lived in the country for at least 5 years – you must have an excellent knowledge of the language and the local culture.

Current areas of focus: South America and Europe are our top priority at the moment, but we are open to hearing from researchers based in other regions too!

About the Local Researcher role

  • You will be working with intO on a fixed-term contract – part-time or full-time,  depending on the project’s timeline
  • Daily rates dependent on experience and project demands
  • Starting point: depending on projects/upon confirmation
  • Location: This is a fully remote position, you can work from anywhere in your country of residency
  • Report to and collaborate with the Project Director/Project Lead of each project
  • The role mostly entails implementing various qualitative research methods focused on ethnography and design sprints.

Essential skills and experiences

  • Degree, or equivalent, in Product design, Industrial design, Communication/media/visual design, UX/UI, Service Design, Innovation design, Integrated design, Architecture, Social studies, Innovation management, Psychology, International Business, Marketing, or similar 
  • Have gained or be a current student/candidate for a Masters/PhD degree, preferably abroad
  • Have a mid to senior level of professional practice/expertise (around 5-10 years of experience)
  • Be a research specialist with excellent knowledge of local culture
  • Good spoken and written English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient technical understanding of qualitative research and user research. Ideally, you have wide experience conducing in-depth interviews, focus groups, online surveys, digital diaries, design sprints and facilitation, among other ethnographic methods
  • Familiarity with Miro, Google suite, Adobe suite, Keynote

Tasks & responsibilities of the role – baseline (it depends on the type of project)

  • Project set-up and management support
  • Translation of pertinent documents: screening forms, consent forms, and interview guides, etc. 
  • Finding and recruiting appropriate research participants and replacement of dropouts 
  • Fieldwork facilitation and coordination (e.g. recommending a hotel, co-working space, etc) 
  • Hiring & management of the facilities (if required), support on payment and incentives 
  • Collecting data & facilitating research activities
  • Analysing data
  • Reporting results
  • Meeting and reporting accordingly to schedule
